Industrial Visit at ‘AMUL Chocolate Unit-Food Complex’ on 24th November 2021

Amul Dairy and the Chocolate Factory is a cooperative organization jointly owned by 3.6 million milk producers in Gujarat and managed by the Gujarat Co-operative milk marketing federation.It is one place you can go to discover the real chocolate-making process. It’s a perfect haven for chocolate lovers. Before you enter the factory sniff your nose off the grime and let your senses inhale the natural aroma of cocoa and indulge in a temptation to make your trip a heartfelt one.Rai University Ahmedabad had organized a visit to one of the biggest chocolate units in India, Amul Chocolate Unit-Food Complex, on 24th November 2021. The visit was planned for the students of RaiSchool of Management and School of Pharmacy accompanied by the faculties: Dr.Sandip Chandra, Dr. Shalini Bajaj, and Mr. NavinrajMourya. The students of B.Com, BBA, B.Pharm, M.Pharm, and MBAare the prime beneficiaries of the visit.

AMUL’s unique invention and rapid expansion across Gujarat inspired political leaders to replicate the successful business model in other parts of India. Thus, Amul Dairy became instrumental in bringing about the White Revolution in India, also called the Operation Flood. Amul’s business model also played a key role to transform India from a milk deficient country to one of the largest producers of milk in the world. Apart from a state-of-the-art factory, Amul headquarters in Anand houses a dairy museum and some Amul parlors. Amul is an Indian dairy cooperative, based at Anand in the state of Gujarat, India. Formed in 1946, it is a brand managed by a cooperative body, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF).

The objective of the visit was to familiarize the students with one of the most important aspects of a chocolate product and be aware of the organizational culture.

Amul’s team member has introduced the company profile and its present functioning for different bakery products. The technical team explained every step involve in chocolate production like slurry making, cooling, adding flavoring agents, smoothening, hardening, storing, and packaging of chocolate. Team also explains the automation of machines involve in the production of large quantities of chocolate and existing computerized controlled machinery.

The visit helped students to understand the chocolate process and working system of dairy and gain an active insight into practical aspects ofthe current education field.
