K.D. Hospital Visit

On 19^th Aug 2025, a group of students and faculty members from the School of Pharmacy, Rai University, visited K.D. Hospital, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, as part of an academic initiative to provide practical exposure to hospital pharmacy operations. The visit, coordinated with Mr. Narsinh Gorkha, Manager of the hospital, commenced at 3:00 PM. Students explored different sections including the Entrance Area, Central Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy, OT Pharmacy, and OPD Pharmacy. The purpose of this visit was to enhance their understanding of hospital pharmacy operations, documentation, and record-keeping. Through guided exposure, students gained valuable insights into various aspects such as medication management, dispensing, and compounding, along with patient care and counseling practices that emphasized the importance of adherence and therapy management. They were also introduced to drug information services, interdisciplinary collaboration within healthcare teams, and regulatory requirements ensuring quality assurance. Observing clinical rounds provided them an understanding of medication reconciliation, therapeutic monitoring, and the pharmacist’s role in patient care. Additionally, students learned about infection control practices, sterile compounding, and specialized services including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition. Overall, the visit enriched students’ knowledge by bridging theoretical learning with practical hospital experience, equipping them for future pharmacy practice and professional competence.
