Constitution Day also known as 'Samvidhan Divas', is celebrated in our country on 26th November every year to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. On 26th November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect from 26th January 1950.

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on 19th November 2015 notified the decision of Government of India to celebrate the 26th day of November every year as 'Constitution Day' to promote Constitution values among citizens as a part of year-long celebration of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar. Constitution Day of India aims to bring awareness on the importance of the Indian Constitution and its architect, Dr B R Ambedkar.

School of Law, Rai University, Ahmedabad celebrated the Constitution Day by organizing Pledge Event for staff members of University. The Event was well received by the staff members and was attended following the necessary guidelines considering the current COVID-19 situation. All the staff members were briefed about the Indian Constitution by Dr. Nita Solanki, Principal (I/C), School of Law and a Preamble reading activity was conducted. All the staff members took the pledge to abide by the Preamble.

A separate event was conducted to involve the students into the Preamble reading and pledge activity using virtual mode and students participated with enthusiasm and passion. The reading activity was organized in their respective classes virtually and students were given overview of History of India constitution and How we adopted the Constitution of India.

Suitable arrangements were made for showing the live address of Hon’ble President, Vice President and Prime Minister Preamble reading event.

The Staff members were also briefed about the myGov portal and encouraged to take part in Preamble reading activity on portal and earn certificate.
