School of Agriculture had arranged a visit for B.Sc. Agriculture, Semester V and VII students on 7th September to Agri Asia 2019, Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Agri Asia 2019. 9th International Exhibition and Conference on Agriculture Technologies catalogued on 06th, 07th and 08th day of September 2019 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. Agri Asia has served as a platform for bringing together many foreign as well as national visitors from 20+ countries to interact with the leading international agriculture technology companies. The Agriculture expo, held once in a year, is one of the leading international Agriculture events of its kind to showcase international agriculture technologies. This Agriculture Exhibition in India traditionally attracts many Ministers of Agriculture, decision-makers, experts, practitioners and trainers in agriculture, as well as thousands of visitors from all around the globe.
Agri Asia was formulated in the year 2011 and since its inception it has been progressively forming an International Exhibition and Conference on Agriculture Technologies every year in the month of September at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. Agri Asia serves a great platform for bringing together the foreign as well as national visitors to interact and deal with the leading international agricultural technology companies.
Agri Asia is an International Exhibition and Conference on Agriculture which covers all the major and minor aspects of Agricultural Industry. It has been popular because not only the big stake holders take part in it but also the farmers from almost every states of India are visiting and being part of this International event. It also offers networking opportunities with many groups like high ranking agriculture officials to identify and explore business as well as investment opportunities across India.
Agriculture plays a vital role in India’s economy. Over 58 per cent of the rural households depend on agriculture as their principal means of livelihood. Agriculture, along with fisheries and forestry, is one of the largest contributors to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). As per estimates by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the share of agriculture and allied sectors (including agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishery) was 15.35 per cent of the Gross Value Added (GVA) during 2015-16 at 2011-12 prices. The Department of Agriculture and Cooperation under the Ministry of Agriculture is responsible for the development of the agriculture sector in India. It manages several other bodies, such as the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), to develop other allied agricultural sectors.
Thus, in lieu to the above opportunities that student may receive after participating in the summit, university had arranged a student visit wherein they had visited various stalls at the Agri asia and organizations with products or services related to the various topics, All students gained knowledge on various aspects like Agriculture Ecology, Agricultural Building Contractors, Agricultural Machinery and Equipment, Agro and Food Processing, Aquaculture, Biotechnology, Fertilizers and Chemicals, Floriculture, Fork lift and Handling Equipment, Greenhouses, Horticulture, Irrigation and Water Technologies, Livestock and Dairy Farming, Marketing and Export/Import Services, Organic Agriculture, Plant Protection, Plasticulture, Post Harvest Treatment, Poultry, Precise Agriculture, R & D, Renewable Energy, Rural Development, Seeds, Nurseries and Plant Propagation Materials, Small Ruminants, Software and Hardware, Veterinary, Turnkey Projects and Knowledge Transfer.
Moreover, the visit served as a right platform for all students to gain practical knowledge about the international agriculture, academia, institutional investors, venture capitalists, analysts, progressive farmers and other experts so that they can have the opportunity to shape the future collaboration landscape of agriculture technology. Overall the visit was quite informative and provided excellent networking opportunity.
