Mr. V Selavraj, manager from Indo German Tool Room located Ahmadabad was the respected guest speaker on 29th August, 2017. The session topic was focused on understanding of Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM), Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) for B.Tech mechanical engineering and automobile semester V and VII students.
During the lecture, Mr. V Selavrai extensively introduced the operations of CAM, CAE and CAD in industries. Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is the use of software to control machine tools and related ones in manufacturing of work pieces. Computer-aided design (CAD) is the use of computer technology for design which reduces the time and cost effectively. Computer-aided engineering (CAE) is the broad usage of computer software to aid in engineering analysis tasks.
Mr. V Selavrai concluded the lecture emphasizing that the use of computers has replaced the traditional methods in manufacturing operations & processes, architecture, MEP, and structural engineering fields. In addition, computers have changed not only the way we work and the definition of efficiency but also computer-aided processes have opened up another career path for engineering students.
