Rai University’s vision of contributing towards Nation Development got a significant boost as the joint efforts of students across all semesters of B.Sc Agriculture joined hands and combined forces to create a marvelous picture of excellence in the form of a KRISHI SAMMELAN. All throughout India, Krishi Sammelans/Krishi Melas plays a pivotal role in transfer of technologies to the end users.
The function saw the presence of a large number of “Sons of the Soil” (Farmers), students across all semesters pursuing their course in B.Sc. Agriculture and Staff Members of Rai University. Eminent Research Scientist, Mr. Ankit Ghadiya and Dr. Dabhi, Veterinary Expert were invited as the chief guests. The students showed their commitment to contribute towards the success of the function put on a lively and jovial show of anchoring the function.
The function was inaugurated by the prayer and lamp lighting ceremony attended by the Chief Guests, Dr Dabhi and Mr Ankit Ghadiya accompanied by Dr. Kartik Jain – Provost of Rai University and Mr. Hardik Nagar – Registrar, Rai University. Dr. Kartik Jain set the ball rolling with a welcome address in Gujarati. This was followed by the first technical session on Veterinary Science by Dr Dabhi. The main issue discussed was the unprofitability of milk yield from Cattle against the fodder fed to them. Dr Dabhi stressed on better quality off springs from cattle rearing and timely vaccination among milk bearing animals like cows and buffalos amongst farmers and cattle rearers.
The students then enacted a small lively drama showing the reality of village life and practical difficulties of farmers in case of failed crops. The Play also spread social awareness amongst the farmers regarding Kisan Call Centre (Farmer’s Help Desk) and its utility in solving difficulties of farmers in a practical way.
The seminar raged on spreading knowledge, information, awareness and surprise. Eminent Research Expert Ankit Ghadiya exuberated an energy of knowledge and confidence as he went on to cover various topics like Soil Health Card, Soil Analysis, Irrigation Systems and some common mistakes done by farmers. He also spread awareness about some of the government schemes and encouraged fellow farmers to use these schemes to their best advantage. The seminar was concluded with the closing speech by Mr, Veerendra Singh Nagoria by thanking all guests, speakers and students for their valiant and supportive cooperation.
The seminar successfully packed a punch informing the farmers about latest developments in agriculture and allied fields both in terms of practice and technology, disseminate information on the scope of post harvest technology, seed processing, soil and water conservation practices and organic farming, enlightened the farmers on the availability of technical, financial and other supports offered by various government authorities, agencies and agriculture allied companies and organizations and to create awareness amongst the farming community on judicious use of natural resources.
