An honorary doctoral degree is often awarded in recognition of one’s life experiences. It is denoted by the letters ‘H.C.’ which is an abbreviation for ‘Honoris Causa’ (Latin for ‘for the sake of honor’).
An Honorary Degree may be awarded to an individual who has achieved acknowledged eminence in cultural affairs, in public service, or in a field of knowledge and scholarship. In all cases, reasonable endowments are expected from prospective honorees.
