In order to broaden the student’s perspective and enrich their knowledge, the Corporate Resource Cell organized a workshop on “Foundation Engineering and Analysis” by Mr. Satadru Chowdhury the chief Engineer at Skyfi Education Labs Pvt Ltd. The prime benefices of the presented magnificent knowledge skills by the speaker were RU Students of B.tech Civil, VII & V Semester. The workshop was held for 2 days.
Mr. Satadru Chowdhury the dynamic and versatile chief Engineer at Skyfi Education Labs Pvt Ltd. is a great proficient subject expert and a knowledge vista on Civil Engineering. His main area of expertise is Structural Analysis and fundamentals of structure and Foundation design through ETAB & SAFE software.
The prime focus on the topics of the discussion on Day 1 was general civil engineering principles, brief introduction of structural analysis and design including structural principles, procedure of software introduction and its utilization and the analysis and design of the various types of foundations. Shallow foundations, often called footings, are usually embedded about a meter or so into soil whereas A deep foundation is used to transfer the load of a structure down through the upper weak layer of topsoil to the stronger layer of subsoil below.
The second day included the chief learning of these genre topics as the general introduction about the company profile, technical session on introduction about the SAFE and ETAB Software, the foundation, types of foundation and detail of different components to frame structure like Column, beam, Slab etc. and lastly how to design different types of foundation for different types of Structure.
The main highlight of the session pointed out the foundation which is very important part of structure by using software SAFE and E-TABS. SAFE is the ultimate tool for designing concrete floor and foundation systems. The innovative and revolutionary new E-TABS are the ultimate integrated software packages for the structural analysis and design of buildings.
The workshop concluded with a positive outcome were students learned the professionalism attitude, presentation skills and technical concept of the structure related history, fundamental forces related to the structures, structural analysis and its design by using different software such as E-TABS and SAFE. At the end of the session, students were able to design different types of building foundations for different loading conditions through both the software. The best performer and designer students were evaluated by giving different tasks of foundations for specified time period. “A man’s mind, stretched by new ideas, may never return to its original dimensions.”
