To celebrate the marking discovery of “The Raman Effect” by the Indian Nobel laureate, Dr. C.V. Raman, “National Science Day” celebration was held at Rai University, Ahmedabad.
On 28th February, 2018, the day was celebrated in joint-coordination of students of department of Life Science and Department of Science.
The mood was set with a warm welcome by some energetic students from the Science Stream and with the Key Note Address by DR. MALTIBEN CHAUHAN, Honorary Professor at SRISTI (Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institute, Ahmedabad) and Ex- Dean, Institute of Ayurvedic Medicinal Plant Sciences, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar.
The talk was delivered on an interesting topic “Importance of Ayurvedic Medicinal Plants in Life”. After the keynote address, the extempore session went into action with the students to extemporarily speak about scientists. The students then displayed creativity with some message-bearing posters in the next event named Poster Presentation. However, the adrenaline in the students got a higher energy at final event of the day the Brainstorm QUIZ. The students participated enthusiastically and the sheer amount of energy could make Sir Albert Einstein proud of the amount of energy that had flown throughout the day. The final event was Rangoli making and students displayed beautiful rangolis dawned with vivid colors and showcased their creativity. This was truly an event where art met science and surprised everyone.
The evening drew an exciting day to an end with the announcement of the winners and prize distribution at the hands of the guests and judges. All of the students and their energy are proof enough to the scientists of yesterday that the “SCIENTIFIC FUTURE” of India is in safe, eager and enthusiastic hands. Multidisciplinary participation from students made this event a success and a day to remember.
