With the intention of dissemination of the concepts of technology in communication; the Corporate Resource Cell organized a visit to the major telecom operator in the country named BSNL where the Department of RTTC (Regional Telecom Training Centre) was the chief department to be visited. The students B.Tech (CSE & IT), Diploma (CSE & IT) were the prime beneficiaries of this visit. Mr. D. J. Parikh the Sub Divisional Engineer represented host organization and guided the students around the facility.
Regional Telecom Training Centre, Ahmedabad is one of the prime training centers of BSNL in the western region. The Centre is an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Institute. It was established in 1973 catering to the training needs in telecom sector. Telecommunication has emerged as one of the most rapidly advancing and expanding sector. Regional Telecom Training Centre (RTTC), Ahmedabad is one of the most valued training centers of BSNL providing quality training in the field of telecommunications, to its people as well as to the engineering students, professionals from other Government and private organizations.
The main objective of the visit was to make the students aware of the working of Telecom Equipment and working in the network. The students were first welcomed to the facility and given primary instructions regarding the rules and regulations to be observed while visiting the facility. They have a well-established infrastructure with highly equipped labs, classrooms and advanced teaching aids ably supported by expert trainers having a blend of extensive field as well as teaching experience. The Institute is constantly making endeavors to provide customized as well as tailor made quality training to the outside agencies in the field of Mobile Communication, Optical Fiber Communication, Computer Networking and IP Addressing, Broadband, Wi-Fi , WiMax etc. The Infrastructure, the dedicated faculty members makes education at RTTC Ahmedabad a pleasant and valuable experience.
The RTTC Lab was found to be a large laboratory with a large mix of interesting technologies very essential for a modern day computer science graduate. The students were divided into two groups and visited a total of seven hi-tech labs. All three groups visited total 7 labs including working GSM BTS in Lab along with actual Tower Antenna, Broadband Technology Lab, Optical Fiber Cable and System Lab, Digital Telephone Exchange – C-Dot Lab, Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Lab, IPv6 and Computer Network Lab, Telecom Museum.
The students were enthralled by the working of the biggest telecom colossal of the country and got to learn a lot by asking infrequent questions and understanding the working of the complex communication technology process. It was a prolific visit.
