The Corporate Resource Cell recently organized a visit at “Agri-Asia: An International Agriculture Technology Exhibition and conference” from 2nd September 2016 to 4th September 2016 at Mahatma Mandir as an initiative in coordination with the Government of Gujarat. The students were taken in small groups spanning over a period of three days respectively form the Semester I, III and V of B.SC Agriculture. The exhibition was to exhibit and marketing of tools and machinery regarding Agri-horticultural field, all the sectors and several companies had successfully participated in that exhibition. Our students have gained knowledge about machineries and technologies used in agriculture.
Agri-Asia: An International Agriculture Technology Exhibition and conference has served as a platform for bringing together many foreign as well as national visitors from 20 + countries to interact with the leading international agriculture technology companies. The Agri-Asia exhibition, held once in a year, is one of the leading international Agriculture Events of its kind to showcase international agriculture technologies. This Agriculture Exhibition traditionally attracts many Ministers of Agriculture, decision-makers, experts, practitioners and trainers in agriculture, as well as thousands of visitors from all around the globe.
During the exhibition, students learnt about function and use of combine harvester of wheat, also learnt about co-operative structure of bank in Gujarat and their role in development of agriculture. The exhibition was all about various irrigation methods including drip irrigation, sprinkler, sub soil irrigation, rain gun irrigation system etc. There were many agrochemicals (Fertilizers, Insecticide, Fungicide and Herbicide) and Bio-fertilizer stalls. The moisture conservation technique “MAGIC GEL – water and nutrient retention agent for soil”, novel method to reduce water usage and improved nutrient management for crops were well displayed in the exhibition. There was a live demonstration about solar water pump and how it works.
Students were not only made familiar with the ways of increasing efficiency in the Agricultural Sector but also taught world class practices envisioning turning India into a global agriculture leader in its vision twenty-twenty. Overall, the visit was one of the best examples of learning by live examples and current scenario where students could actually be a part of the learning process.
