The Corporate Resource Cell organized an Industrial Visit to Vulcan Industries on 14th of April, 2015 for the students pursuing B.Tech Mechanical Engineering from Rai University. The visit was attended to get live display of the important role of a mechanical engineer in production and operations department of an organization. The students were guided around the campus facility by Mr. Mihir Patel on behalf of the organization.
Vulcan Industries was founded in 1975 under the name of Vul-Tech Manufacturing by Whitey and Fran Mensching. The beginnings were small, with miscellaneous metal manufacturing taking place in a back warehouse in Omaha, Nebraska. In 1978, the company was moved to Magnolia, Iowa, and the name changed to Vulcan Industries, Incorporated.
The main objective of the industrial visit is to gain knowledge and experience of product integration into new or existing treatment plants and engineering analysis and product selection to equipment drawings and specifications we are prepared to be your design partner. The students were divided into small groups and were taken through the facility by the guide where they had been shown all the procedures such as product integration, Mechanical Design, Electrical Engineering & Design that includes PLC & SCADA working.
The students were able to relate their concepts related to equipment manufacturing like custom stainless steel cutting, forming, machining, welding and coating and able to witness a practical learning exposure in the fields of electrical engineering.
