The corporate resource cell recently planned a visit at the Ruby Bus Pvt Ltd. The visit was aimed at linking the student’s ideas with real time learning concepts. The students of Diploma Automobile Semester III & V along with B.Tech Auto Semester III and Mechanical Engineering 7th Semester were the prime beneficiaries of this visit. Mr. Hitesh Patel represented the company and guided them around the campus while answering some curious questions.
Ruby Bus Pvt. Ltd. has been a part of the Indian Bus Body Building industry for over five decades. The company has three manufacturing facilities set up at Naroda, Ahmedabad, where they employ about 1800 people and have the capacity and infrastructure to produce 3000 bus bodies per annum. Ruby Bus, being one of the few organized players in the industry, having state-of-the-art plants equipped with large production facility, has emerged as one of the major manufacturers of buses which cater to both indigenous demands as well as export requirements.
The tour aimed at familiarizing the students with the engineering division of Amul Industries and equip them into a real time working of the Engineering Section in Corporate. At the outset the students were given some introduction of Amul and its early history from GCMMF to the brand name Amul. The students then visited the engineering section where they were made familiar with the refridgeration, accumulation and decontamination unit used for pasteurization of milk. Students learned about different machines and equipments used in food processing, automation in processing and packaging.
The tour began with a general overview of the workshop with a live display of Induction and Flooring, Panelling and a detailed explanation of the entire work flow of the process of production and assembly of different parts of a bus. It also focused on the application of the chasis number on the engines and proceeded towards important processes like machining, paneling, finishing and painting, inspection and dispatching of bus with body.
The students drew some exciting pieces of learning like the working of a bus production plant, parameters to be considered while construction of a vehicle and the entire process from the blue print to the actual construction and dispatch of a bus.
