In order to bring the students of B.Sc. Agriculture, a step closer to nature and help them link their theoretical know-how with a practical exposure of their future work place, the Corporate Resource Cell went a step ahead and arranged an Industrial Visit to the Centre of Excellence for protected cultivation and precision farming on vegetables for the students of Rai University pursuing their science graduation in agriculture. Mr. Nilesh Patel, the technology manager cum Horticulture Officer guided and briefed the students in the course of the visit.
Government of Gujarat project connected with Indo-Israel agriculture work plan to improve Horticulture farming and protected cultivation. The Centre of excellence for protected cultivation and precision farming on vegetables was initiated in the year 2012. The centre of excellence for protected cultivation and precision farming in Vadrad village of Sabarkantha district has played a pivotal role in extension of Indo-Israel Agriculture Plan (IIAP) to the third phase across the country.
The students were first taken through some of the different types of net house arrangements and explained the different types of net structures and layouts used in modern warehouses. The students were then explained the details of the plugging system for raising seedling and method of grafting in fruit crops. Finally the students were guided around and showed the precision farming technique use. The students learned about the concept of protected and precision farming, different types of nets used in farming in the green houses, also about different types of grafting & breeds and ways to improve high yielding productivity. All in all, it was a very fruitful visit.
