In Order to enhance the practical knowledge, stimulation and to let the students have an overview on the activity related to operations in relation to manage kitchen, Rai Business School, Rai University, Ahmedabad had organized an industrial visit on 08th April, 2019 to Akshaya Patra Foundation Bhadaj, Ahmedabad. The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a non-profit organisation that runs school lunch programme across India.
The visit was planned for the students of B.Com, BBA and MBA accompanied by the Management Faculty. The visit began with an introductory session conducted by Mr.Punit Tripathi (Head, Quality & Control, Akshaya Patra Foundation, Bhadaj, Ahmedabad) who provided very useful information about Akshaya Patra Foundation as given below:
- An insight to the historical background of Akshaya Patra Foundation.
- Quality Standards followed by Akshaya Patra Foundation.
- A brief information about various awards and recognitions which they have received at National as well as International level such as Nikkei Asia Prize 2016 in the ‘Economic and Business Innovation’ category, Gold Award for Annual Report 2011-12 by SAFA (South Asian Federation of Accountants), ranked 23rd among Top 100 NGOs by The Global Journal in its 2013 edition and many more.
The students then headed towards different departments of Akshaya Patra Foundation where they observed each and every activity which was going on in the kitchen while cooking the food, washing of cooking appliances, selection of raw material, packaging & distribution of food and day to day food menus for children.
Overall the visit provided students with a practical understanding and made them think critically on how to manage even the smallest thing by keeping keen observations on each and every aspect.
