Guest Lecture – Technical Head at Institute of Advance Network Technology (IANT) – Mr. Tausif Sheikh – 8th February, 2017 – Corporate Resource Cell

Practical learning is all about how knowledge is applied. 8th February, 2017:- Mr. Tausif Sheikh, Technical Head at Institute of Advance Network Technology (IANT) was the esteemed guest speaker at Rai University, Ahmedabad for students of B.Tech & Diploma CSE & IT students studying in the even semester. The topic of the session was Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
The Cisco Certified Network Associate – Routing and Switching (CCNA – Routing and Switching) certification was developed by Cisco to test a candidate’s knowledge of networking at entry level. The Cisco Certified Network Associate – Routing and Switching (CCNA – Routing and Switching) certification analyzes the candidate’s ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size routed and switched networks. Getting certified is important for successful professional career in IT- Networking as it adds weight to your profile and resume. The objectives of the session were to explain the importance of CCNA, help students understand its practical view and related further opportunities and its guidance.
It is true that CCNA is virtually a gateway to networking as it explains fundamental concepts clearly. It’s a prerequisite to other courses such as CCNP.It is also essential for growth in work.The speaker emphasized and explained concepts like TCP/IP, IP Addressing and Subnetting, Routing Information Protocol (RIP), Routing Information Protocol V2 (RIPv2), IGRP (Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Serial Line Interface Protocol, Frame Relay, VLANs, Ethernet, access control lists (ACLs) etc. He also discussed about CISCO and its overview. Practical knowledge and demonstration about Router, Hub, classes and versions of IP, helped students gain clarity and confidence over networking concepts studied in the curriculum along with the knowledge about the same with reference to career prospects. Students were very satisfied with the session.
