On 13th September Mr. Nitin Sapre and Ms. Chintrangi Bhatt were invited to address B. Tech students of Rai University Ahmadabad on automation and Industry 4.0. Mr. Sapre and Ms. Bhatt both work at Bosch Rexroth India Limited in Service & training Department.
One of the main topics of three-hour long lecture was on how automation or automatic control, the use of various control systems for operating equipment is widely used in various industries in India. Automation has been achieved by various means including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic devices and computers, usually in combination. Complicated systems, such as modern factories, airplanes and ships typically use all these combined techniques. Another topic addressed by Ms. Chintrangi Bhatt was Industry 4.0 which is a name for the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies. Ms. Bhatt further explained that Industry 4.0 included cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things, cloud computing and cognitive computing which has been considered “the revolution of industry.”
As the lecture drew to the end, Mr. Nitin Sapre closed the lecture by emphasizing the substantial benefits of automation in the long and the impact of Industry 4.0 which actually changed the equation for manufacturing industry. He added that Industry 4.0 has allowed much greater agility and mix in a factory without sacrificing quality, cost or speed which in turn would lead to more rapid innovation and financial gain for the company
