Field trips give students practical learning experiences away from their regular limited classroom environment. Excursion or field trip is an important tool of meeting learning goals. Rai University’s School of Fashion Technology, organized a field trip for interior designing students to interior construction exposure and for the fashion designing students to add virtual experience in their education, on 5th January 2018. It was an outdoor workshop for the students as students not only saw the live construction work but also get to meet the Designer.
The Journey started with Anmol Art Gallery, where they met the Head of the exhibition, Ms Ishani Shah, also the head designer. She welcomed and interacted with the students warmly. She informed the students about the layout of the gallery and about the various styles of clothes and jewelry exhibited. She took the initiative of showing the students around and cleared all the queries the students had.
The next stop on the visit was CEPT college. Our students interacted with the CEPT faculty and gained invaluable knowledge. The CEPT campus was lined with furniture created and crafted by their students. The furniture pieces consisted of authentic designs and lifted the ambience of the place to a whole new level. Students also visited a Book Exhibition in the CEPT campus which was organized by the CEPT students.
The last stop on the visit was Hussein-Doshi Ki Gufa, also known as, Ahmedabad Gufa. It is the studio of the world renowned painter and artist M.F. Hussein. The Gufa is lined with his paintings and with great art and architecture all around the place. Students were enthralled with the placement of mirrors, inside the gufa that lit up the place all day long with sunlight without any external source of light. Students also gazed at the paintings in the gallery and later visited the Zen café. The café was lined with pieces of interior design. Students were inspired at the end of the visit to create such pieces and take up art projects of their own.The visit came out as educating and well received by the students.
